The Hawaii United Okinawa Association is holding an informal Yuntaku of sharing stories and connecting with each other as we honor our Issei. A short program begins at 10 a.m. It will introduce the history of how Uchinanchus made the journey to Hawaii and the 24-year period in which over 20,000 Okinawans made Hawaii their home. The visual display of the club boards with photos and stories of the Issei along will greet the attendees. Scattered tables will allow for attendees to sit and chat with each other about their memories. Special hosts will also have the opportunity to share more specific stories.
