JCCH: Craft & Collectibles Fair

There’s something for everyone to enjoy in May at the next Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi Craft & Collectibles Fair! Shop with local small business vendors that will offer Japanese and Japanese-inspired items. The JCCH Gift Shop and Historical Gallery will also be open.

FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS FUNDRAISER: Just in time for Mother’s Day, fresh floral arrangements created by our ikebana volunteers will be available for purchase at the JCCH Gift Shop. 100% of sale proceeds benefit the JCCH.

LET’S TALK…SWORDS!: Join President Al Furuto and members of the Japanese Sword Society of Hawaii (JSSH) for a talk story session and Q&A. View rare and authenticated swords while learning about the history of Samurai swords.

KOINOBORI DISPLAY: Take a photo with our koinobori 鯉のぼり (carp flag) decorations in the JCCH courtyard! These are currently displayed in celebration of Children’s Day on 5/5, but will remain up through the craft fair.

Open to all members and guests of the Hawaii United Okinawa Association and affiliated Okinawan clubs

NOTE:
Championship Flight golfer with the lowest 36-­‐hole gross total will be declared the Tournament Champion. In case of a tie, the winner will be determined by sudden death play off. For net scores, ties will be decided by matching cards or by other methods as determined by the Tournament Committee.

AWARDS & BANQUET:
Prizes and awards to be presented on May 25, 2025 at 5:30pm and dinner at 6pm at Jikoen Hongwanji.

ENTRY FEE:
$160.00 includes green fees, cart fees, City and County of Honolulu user fees, and awards banquet. Additional banquet tickets are available at $25.00 each.
Super Seniors (75+): $80.00, green fees & cart fees, Sunday user fees & awards banquet.

STARTING TIMES:
Starting times for all flights will be from 6:30am to 9am. Tee times will be posted at the Starter’s Booth at Pali Municipal Golf Course. All participants will be grouped according to flights: Seniors, Women, A, B, and Championship.

ENTRY DEADLINE: First 120 players or May 10, 2025, whichever comes first.

Maui: Ti Leaf Lei for Memorial Day

Sprecklesville, Maui — Ti Leaf Lei are needed for placement at the Maui Veteran Cemetary in Makawao, Maui for Memorial Day Ceremonies on May 26. Please refer to the flyer for information on how you can contribute ti leaf and or ti leaf lei. Lei-making classes are also available.

Obon: Hawaii’s Plantation Village

Hawaii’s Plantation Village once again opens the Oahu bon dance season with its annual Obon
Celebration. It will be a fun night of dancing, ono local foods and tasty treats such as andagi,
shave ice and waffle dogs.

The Village Gift Shop, Country Store and pop-up plant sales tent will offer a variety of plantation related items and crafts for purchase and visitors can also visit the Historical Exhibition Room to learn about Hawaii’s plantation life, the Honouliuli National Historic Site and view our Looking Through Our Grandparents’ Closet exhibit.


The celebration will also feature special performances by emcee and singer Hikariyama Torao
and taiko performances by Waipahu Taiyoji Taiko and Ryugen Taiko. A special lantern floating
ceremony will also take place at the village pond at sunset. A limited number of lanterns will be
available for purchase at the event at the Waipahu Soto Zen Temple tent.

Parking and shuttle service will be available at Waipahu Elementary School and Hawaii Tech
Academy between 3:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Donations are welcomed for the shuttle service.
Limited handicap parking available on site.
